16TH ANNUAL SACRED SITES OPEN HOUSE


Part of the New York State Landmarks Conservancy, this event takes place this weekend, May 16 and 17th 2026, throughout the State of New York.


This year’s theme is “Holding Community Memories,” and participating congregations will show-case their buildings and histories through varied guided tours, lectures, musical performances and opening their archives. The Parish of St. Peter’s Peekskill will be participating in this event this year by opening their doors on the two church buildings from 12 Noon to 3 pm on Sunday, May 17th for tours. Please stop by!

Old St. Peter’s Church holds annual services on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend and the Sunday closest to the 4thof July.  Following is a festive coffee-hour held in the neighboring Little Red Schoolhouse.


During September, the VanCortlandtville Historical Society jointly hosts a Commemoration of the French Soldiers to honor those who died in battle.  A gun salute, re-enactors and Service in the Church will be part of the celebration.  The Rochambeau Trail is highlighted.  As this 250th celebration continues throughout this year, watch for more information on the local events of the surrounding area.
